Frequently Asked Questions

What is an affiliate program?

An affiliate program is a way of advertising, that allows merchants to only pay for actual sales.  You see, a website owner would sign up to become the merchant's affiliate.  Then the affiliate would market the merchant's products on their site and would be compensated at the completion of a sale.

How does it work?

The affiliate posts a merchant's approved banner, text, or product link on their site.  When a visitor enters the affiliate's site, clicks on the merchants link, and makes a purchase, the affiliate receives a commission credit.  That credit is usually held until a minimum payout is reached and/or until a specified "date" at which the merchant would pay the affiliate, usually by check, or through Paypal, or sometimes, directly to an affiliate's bank account.

Does it cost to become an affiliate?

Usually, no, however each company has their own policies.

Does an affiliate have to take orders or ship items?

No.  We have never found an affiliate program that asks such of an affiliate.  You see, the affiliate is an independent contractor and is not an employee.

Can an affiliate really make a lot of money?

Yes.  Does that mean that every affiliate will?  No.  The internet is filled with limitless opportunity, but each affiliate will have to make the most of their opportunities.  If your sites receives less than 1,000 hits a month, you probably won't make too much.  But there is opportunity to make some money, perhaps just to fund pleasures in your life!

What else do you need to know?

Affiliate programs vary.  You will want to look for commission percentages or amount per transaction, number of days of affiliate tracking cookies, payout threshold, and always read their terms of use.
